If your fridge is displaying unusually large numbers and is freezing everything then your thermistor may be at fault. Firstly check that the emergency switch is not active as this switch bypasses the control board and supplies power direct - if this is in correct position and you have large numbers on the digital read out like '60" then try the thermistor as it is more likely then the actual control board.
